b-LOG: Home Buying Stage Fright
Date Posted: 05/06/2013

Quite often when we do something for the first time, there is anxiety, nerves, stress, call it what you’d like. Think about standing for the first time at the edge of a diving board 20’ above the water. Or you are in the wings about to go on stage for your (imaginary) Broadway debut!

I recently saw a video of the workers fitting the spire to the top of the new World Trade Centre. (View it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6_udpG4-SA) Imagine the first time one of those workers climbed up to that workplace in the sky. Do you think there were some sweaty palms and increased blood pressure?

So, the question we all face when at this fork in the road of ‘to do or not to do’, is what do we do? Do we duck and run or do we face it and plough ahead?

When buying a home for the first time, it is important to know that in a sense, you are about to go out on stage. It is completely normal and understandable to have a moment of stage fright. Sometimes it is enough to cause a buyer to pass on a home or wait and that is fine. But if the time is right to go on stage, dive in the pool or buy a home, it is important to know that eventually the time comes when you need to jump.

And when you do, accept the process and realize that even people buying their 3rd or 4th home experience stress, sweaty palms and a ‘what are we doing’ moment. Once you land in the pool or get out on stage, the dust will settle though and you will regain your wits.

Then you may find that something strange happens….you just might get excited and enjoy the moment! Happy home hunting and as always, if we can help contact us anytime!

Thank-you for visiting.
